Aamina Iftikhar: An Agent for Change
Aamina Iftikhar was the first to step forward as a Save One Life Ambassador—and her passion for the mission is rooted in her own family’s story. Her son was diagnosed with hemophilia in the United States shortly after birth, yet thanks to timely, proactive treatment, he has been able to avoid the painful complications so many others face. Aamina knows this level of care is far from universal—especially in her home country of Pakistan.
During a visit to the treatment center near her hometown of Lahore, she was devastated by what she saw. The center’s refrigerator held only a handful of vials of factor. Staff explained that treatment could only be provided in the most urgent emergencies, and on some days a single vial would need to be shared between patients. She witnessed children living with preventable joint damage—suffering from bleeds that should never have gone untreated.
The reality became even more personal when Aamina learned that members of her own family had died young, never diagnosed, and that several relatives continue to live with severe pain and complications due to inadequate or nonexistent treatment. Rather than accept these circumstances as unchangeable, Aamina chose to act. She would raise her voice. She would work tirelessly to reduce suffering for children and families who deserve the same chance her son received.
