Why Grand Canyon?
Save One Life has frequently used adventure trips to help bring awareness to our cause. Our Executive Director, Chris Bombardier, climbed the Seven Summits for Save One Life and Board President and Founder, Laurie Kelley, has scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro with groups three times for Save One Life. We understand that not everyone is ready for a challenge of that magnitude or has the time and finances to travel around the world so we are bringing the challenge closer to home!
Grand Canyon is one of the most iconic locations in the United States. Many people dream of seeing the canyon and walking along the rim, but fewer than 1% of visitors ever go into the canyon! Save One Life wants to provide this opportunity for people of any abilitiy level to achieve this bucket list item.
Who can come?
Anyone! This adventure is designed for people of all physical abilities with many different options of hikes available. Save One Life is utilizing the experience and expertise of our partner, iConquer, to help everyone interested in participating find their route to success. iConquer will guide participants through a ten week training program that will help them prepare for the hike that fits their skill level.
How does the fundraising work?
Participants will be required to raise a minimum of $3,000 to partake in this adventure. This cost covers all your expenses except for your airfare to and from Phoenix. Each participant, or team of participants, will create their own fundraising page to encourage family, friends and community members to support them. Save One Life will provide language and guidance so donors know that any money raised will be going to help people with bleeding disorders in developing countries.
