Support Allyssa and Josh on Save One Life's Iceland Trek!

Save One Life’s trekkers are united by a shared commitment to expanding access to care. Below, Allyssa and Josh shares why they are participating in the 2026 Iceland Trek:

We are very excited and honored to take part in a 5-day trek through Iceland with Save One Life to help raise awareness and funds for children living with hemophilia in developing countries.

We have 2 boys, Ashton and JJ. They are the best of friends and our whole world! Ashton is the best big brother and is constantly wanting to learn and help when it comes to JJ and his hemophilia.

When JJ was born a year ago, we learned that he has Severe Hemophilia A. It was scary to say the least, we had no idea what that meant or what to do next. Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly, which means even a small injury or fall can become very serious without the right treatment.

But honestly, we are pretty lucky. Because of where we live, JJ has access to many different treatment options to keep him safe, amazing doctors, and a great community that helps families like ours.

JJ’s life depends on treatment that many children with hemophilia in developing countries simply do not have access to. Every time we give our son his medication, we are reminded that many parents and children don’t have that same option. Something as simple as a fall could become life threatening without proper treatment. I couldn’t even imagine the feeling of knowing that my child has hemophilia and is treatable in other parts of the world but not where I am.

These children just want to play with their friends, run around, ride a bike, or just do normal day activities without the constant fear of getting a bleed and having no treatment.

That’s why this mission is important to us.

Josh and I have the opportunity to travel to Iceland with Save One Life, a nonprofit organization that supports children with hemophilia in developing countries. We will be going on a 5 day trek across Iceland to help raise awareness and funds to support families and children in 14 different developing countries.

This cause is extremely personal to us because we know how different JJ’s life could look like without his treatment. And every single child deserves the same chance!!
